On Saturday and Sunday I did a bit of baking. I'm planning ahead for baby showers, valentines day, and cookies for up north. The baking was all successful. I did the yummy-licious white chocolate cherry shortbread cookies for the shower, (2 batches made about 90). I made them bit size, very petite and pretty. I also did regular shortbread stamped with a baby foot imprint. Sorry no pic of these. I coated the bottom with a pink white chocolate. I made 4 batches of these which yielded around 100. The last cookies of the weekend were animal cracker cookies. The cookie cutters were a Christmas gift from Mom, and I was anxious to try the cute little cutters out. I had a cookie mix that came with the cutters, so all I had to do was add butter and an egg. It took a little bit to get the hang of these press and stamp cookie cutters but once I figured out a method it was very simple. I'm very impressed with how cute they turned out, but the texture and taste isn't as thrilling. I'm blaming it on the pre-made mix I used. They have nutmeg in the mixture, which is ok, but I'm not a big fan of this spice unless it's with pumpkin. The consistency is strange. I expected crunchy, crispy, or flakey but they are slightly chewy. So overall I'm happy with them, but next time I will be changing the recipe.

Anne and I went and saw comedian and Talk Soup host Joel McHale Saturday night at the Filmore. I laughed more than I thought I would. He had a lot of good stuff and was on stage for about 90 minutes. It's amazing that someone can remember all those topics and jokes. Afterwards we decided to get in line and meet him. It was either wait in line to meet him or wait in the parking lot. The monster truck show at Ford Field drew in the masses. He was very friendly and seemingly laid back.

Definitely need to invest in a better camera. Especially with the new baby around the corner.
Maybe drop a hint to Dad? ;o)
