6 Weeks of Baby.

I officially have 6 weeks of mothering under my belt. Phew!!! As I've said before, there is nothing predictable about my days and nights. Everyday brings something new and I'm consistently surprised. I'm keeping my expectations low so my disappointments are few and pleasant surprises are many. Kate is full of surprises (and lately a few smiles).

I am a planner and organizer and this "chaotic" new lifestyle is challenging for me at times. There is nothing consistent about Kates eating, pooping or sleeping. I'd like to get into some sort of rhythm or routine, but I have no idea where or how to start. Take the last two days for example. Yesterday she refused to nap longer than 20 minutes and was crabby all day. I know she was over tired but she just would not settle, she was a bear! Now today she has been taking great long naps and is happy and content, Angel baby today! It's still early, she could give me hell tonight. :) Overall nights have been good. She can be hard to get to sleep, but once shes down she only gets up to eat. She will usually sleep a good 3 or 4 hour stretch to start the night and then every 2 hours needs to eat. She splits the night between sharing bed space with me or in her co-sleeper bassinet. I'm happy to say I am not sleep deprieved and generally feel good come morning. I hope it stays this way, but who knows?

Yesterday was my first day trying to jog again. I've been walking a few miles about 4 times a week and decided it was time to amp it up a bit. Anne and I are doing the Muddy Buddy race on July 12, it's my motivation to try and get back in shape. The jogging yesterday was not the greatest. As I expected my left knee is giving me pain. Not sure what I will do about that, I may try some sort of knee brace or wrap or if it gets worse see my knee doc. I may just never be a runner again. It wouldn't bum me out too much if I could bike more around here, but there just are no trails in this city. So I may just do a lot of walking.

I'm so happy its spring and I can get outside!
