What's Up

So I'm a little more absent from this blog then I'd like to be. But that's what happens when it's the holiday season and there is so much parenting and crafting to do. :)

Kate is doing great. She is finally ridding herself of a month long cold. A couple trips to the Dr. and two rounds of antibiotics and I think its finally gone. It was not the flu and she never had a temp. Just a nasty cough and chest rattle with runny nose. She's a happy baby though. Loves putting everything in her mouth. So now I keep the pacifier in her mouth instead. She just wants to eat everything, including the people that hold her. She likes to sit on the floor and play with her toys. She is not crawling, but getting close. Lots of babbleling and yelling. And she finally sleeps through the night!!! Big accomplishment for all of us. She pretty consistently goes to bed around 8 pm and doesnt wake up until 6 or 7 am. Two naps during the day. She is a well rested girl and so am I.

We are preparing for the Holidays. I'm trying to finish my Christmas ornaments before I start baking cookies. I have my own craft area in the basement now! I'm still very excited about this. We set it up a couple of weeks ago. I now have all my things in one area with ample table space to spread out. We have tile floor in the basement so Kate plays in the walker while I craft.

I was reading an article in the newspaper last week about a family that stopped doing gifts for Christmas. At first I thought it sounded crazy, but the further into it I read it began to make some sense. Instead of rushing around to buy gifts and stressing out about who wants what and how to pay for it all this family focused more on spending quality time together. Spending money on a very nice Christmas dinner and maybe a few new games they could play together. Now, I do like giving gifts, and I like getting them too, but it got me thinking about how easy it is to lose yourself in Christmas rush and forget what the season is really all about. The best gift of all is family and friends. I'll be spending less time thinking about gifts and wrapping them in perfect paper and enjoy all the Christmas moments making memories with you!
